Deputy Minister for Health Dr. Mya Oo inspected storm-hit patients from MawlamyineKyun and Bogalay Townships in Ayeyawady Division who are undergoing medical treatment at Yangon General Hospital and fulfilled necessary requirements on 27th June. Deputy Minister and party also met with the people who recovered from the injury and were going back to their regions and coordinated essentials. He next comforted the storm-hit patients in Arthritis Unit.




Under the arrangement of the Ministry of Health, a team of malaria control unit led by Bago regional disease control officer Dr. Ni Ni Aye on 25th June provided public health education on prevention against malaria and dengue hemorrhagic fever in Labutta. They also conducted distribution of pamphlets, sanitation work and mosquito spraying with the collaboration of local authorities, health staff and the volunteers. Moreover, the team made blood tests as well as medical check-ups to 628 people. As a result, it was found out that there was no one contracted malaria but health staffs are continuously conducting prevention measures against malaria and dengue hemorrhagic fever.

Under the sponsorship of the Government, Fisheries Department in cooperation with Myanmar Fisheries Federation led by Ministry of Livestock and Fishery has organized the Fishery Industries Rehabilitation Supervisory Central Committee, for the rehabilitation of fishery industries in storm-hit Ayeyawady and Yangon Divisions, according to the guidance of the Head of State.
It is learnt that altogether 9,067 boats and 16,363 fishing nets are needed in NgaPuTaw, Labutta, MawlamyaingKyun, Pyapon, Bogalay, KyaikLat and Dedaye` Townships in Ayeyawaddy Division and 433 boats and 430 fishing nets in KunChanKone, KawtHrnu, Twantay and KyaukTan Townships in Yangon Division.

In order to construct boats speedily and effectively, 1,000 skill workers have been hired from other states and divisions and the construction works are being undertaken day-in and day-out. It is also learnt that diesel engines will be installed at the newly constructed fishing boats. Fishing nets and equipment have been directly ordered from factories and workshops at home and from Thailand and now such fishing equipment are being arrived at the Fisheries Federation and arrangements have been made to distribute the fishing equipment to the fishermen. Altogether 2,996 fishing nets have been sent to the township in Ayeyawaddy Division up to the 26th June.
