@kendconcerto Except for a liquid fuelled rocket. But that's really expensive.

This record run always fascinated me as a kid, and it was a thrill to see the actual car in Sinsheim. You would think that there would be a lot more film available besides this grainy color shifted promo film.

@BobbyLongshot Yes, you are quite right, you can shut down a jet engine more easily and slows down to save your dear life. In a rocket car, all you can do is Godspeed and fingers crossed.....

Thanks for posting this. I've been trying to track down a film on the Blue Flame rocket car run for years.

Rocket cars a eat through a lot more consumables than jet cars during their run. As they do so, the mass of the car changes significantly, which changes the vehicle's stability and dynamics. So, rocket cars are a real guts play, with more power than you can use, and a car that becomes increasingly loose and lively near the end of the course, when your speed is highest. Jet cars are perhaps a little more predictable. A little.
