February 27th was the big day of the Red Bull Rubber and Sole Competition! The Charles H. Wright African American Museum was were the event was held. In the basement fellow CCS student Guercy Eugene, Art Institute students Raven Shelman and Eon Rodrigo, Mike Butler of Central Michigan University and myself, all waited in anticipation for our time to pay tribute to our heroes. The host of the show, Ro Spit (yet another influential African American entrepreneur) stayed back stage assuring us that we would do great. He was such a sweet guy! Before we could present, we were blessed with the chance to hear poetry from local poets T Miller and Mic Write. As we sat backstage and prepared ourselves for the big task at hand, a miracle happened! My she-ro appeared in the flesh, backstage! Jessica Care Moore had been in the area, visiting the Science Center and happened to stop by the museum! I was honored that I got to pay tribute to her while she actually watched!!!! The show started and the night was PERFECT!
