If anybody will have opportunity to work with kids in Ukraine, I encourage you to encourage Christians there to go to those government ran orphanages and work there. Most Christians I know were doing work from outside not from within. And only now I am wondering why? But who am I to criticize, I am not only an outsider now. prayer that God will send workers would be the first response that we are ought to have.
Adoption is or any ways of helping an orphan is a practical outwork of love for God with ought to have. To love an orphan is to love God who died for you. To love an orphan is to show our appreciation for God's adoption of us. One thing I wish that would change in Ukraine, if more Christian teachers/counselors were willing to work in orphanage. Be in the trenches, so to speak. In my time there all I saw were people that work there should not given permission to work with kids.
I live in Chicago, and am going to Moody Theological Seminary. One time I was among those kids, and one time I was one of them too. Lived in orphanage were food at that time was not plentiful, in fact many times I was going to bed hungry. In one year that I have been here, in USA, I grew considerably. But most of all, I was with a family that loved me and truly cared for me, giving me a tremendous opportunities; something I could not say for orphanage workers of that time in my school.
I am a seminary student in New York who dreams of establishing El Shaddai Life Center in Ukraine. In 2004 and 2006, I volunteered at Joshua House in Lviv. I saw so many children who were previously abandoned now led to the Father's arms through missionaries.
I am still overwhelmed by God's response in Ukraine and desire to also have a home for the orphans so that they will no longer be orphans, but have a home of love, safety, growth and guidance. cinderellie (at) my-missionary (dot) org
