For the past five years, Young Scholars in SIS have collected stories of women who live in Newtown, Georgia, a small African-American community outside Gainesville that has been challenged by environmental racism for decades. April Caddell, Anissa Douglass, Mia Dunlap, Brittney Daigle-Leonard, KaTerri Kelley, Whitney Skippings, and LaKeya Williams journeyed to Newtown with SIS Mentor Gloria Wade Gayles. The video, "Toxin Town," named and produced by Anissa Doulgass, highlights the SIS visit on November 7, 2009.
