  • ok, i have a question :l first off, godly video :) second, my little flytrap seems to be doing great, but i just noticed that the edges of some of the leaves are starting to turn brown and shrivel up! the "heads" look ok, but the leaf parts in the middle are getting that brown color and shriveling up. why? i thought maybe a fungus... there are no afids or mold... i dont think. is it going into dormancy? help please?

  • @redgibson1

    Hello redgibson!

Well, there are many reasons why the edges of the leaves are starting to turn brown, I need to see the picture of.

But most likely, the plant is slightly damaged roots due to over-watering or overdrying.

If you grow the plant outdoor with direct sun light you can use the tray method for watering.

But if you grow it indoor it's better don't use the tray method, the soil must be a slightly dry out before waterings.

    Hope I helped you!

    Best wishes,

    Alex

  • They look very healthy looking! :)

May I ask what the background music is called?

    Hello LadyOfTheSith!

    Thanks for comment!

This beautiful soundtrack written by Enya, composition "Tea-House Moon" (from album "The Memory of Trees")

  • @AlexMayerNew what kind of light do you use a normal light bulb or the black light or other

  • Hi gullymob!

I use a fluorescent lamps 36W(two or more), for example, Philips or GE, 830 or 840 serias. These lamps have a nice spectrum and more than 3300 Lumens.

    Regards,

    Alex

  • oh i got that song on my ipod.

  • Doesn't look the least bit like a typical form VFT. More like Clumping Variety, B52, Big Mouth, Low Giant, etc, etc,

  • boooooooorrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnngggggggggg :-(

  • @AlexMayerNew ah, thank you very much. that makes sense. see i live in arizona, so every night i bring it inside to keep from drying out so much and i put it under a lamp. i always have water in the trays, then when morning comes, i put it back outside. i am doing this with 2 seperate plants, but only one has the browning leaf problem. thanks for your help.

  • i first thought you were microwaving it :P

  • @AlexMayerNew Thank you; it is indeed beautiful and calming.
