I used the handle of an old disposable Gillette razor the one with 2 razor blades in the head. Just remove the razor head for safety and chop the rounded part of the handle off and you got a nice long hollow part that runs along the handle. It works perfect sewing thread type cord all the way up to 550 para cord. Hope this helps.

The Cord used is #9 Bonded nylon, best for Cord Rosaries; stiff enough to easily thread the beads, but easy on your hands.
