Until recently this used to be a busy intersection with traffic lights and long waiting times for everyone. Now it was changed to a roundabout with a separate second ring for bicycles (and slow mopeds) who have priority over all car traffic. Although it is a very busy roundabout, all traffic flows very smoothly and waiting times for bicycles have completely disappeared. Cycling is even permitted clockwise (technically 'against' traffic). But because the bicycle ring is at some distance from the inner ring drivers have no trouble seeing the bicycles and giving them priority when they cross each others paths.
