Hi, my name is Jacob Bebbington, and I'm currently gathering peoples accounts of the troubles as inspiration for a memorial piece. All going well this will be situated in a N.I city, and part of the N.I Arts Fair. I am working with professional designer Jonathan Barnbrook in this project and am also hoping to work with the N.I community. If you have any personal or family accounts and would like to be part of this please message me back on this account and i can provide an email address. Thanks

Some of the comments here prove that some people will never be strong willed enough to resist the brainwashing that goes on in this country. Life is too short to get caught up in petty squabbling over who has rights to what. I was born and raised in Northern Ireland. Am I catholic? No. Am I Protestant? No. Do I give a damn if ireland is united? No. Do I give a crap if it isn't? No. The only thing I want to do is just live. And everyone has a right to that.

Northern Ireland is a very nice place. I was recently in Belfast actually, and it's now a buzzing place that's growing in optimism. The younger people up there are wonderful and will be the making of Northern Ireland in the future. Both communities of NI need to realise that they are actually similar and should co-operate and learn to trust each other more. The reality is, both communities will have to get along and live side-by-side in the future, whether it's still in the UK or part of a UI.
Ireland unfree shall never be at peace!

Yeah, "just like any other city in the UK" is the kind of insensitive comment that still rankles. Also saying simply that the IRA were just trying to kick the brits out is inaccurate, maybe they don't know in the UK, as they conveniently forget to teach it in their schools, but it was a total disregard for irish nationalists' civil rights just like apartheid which inspired the IRA resurgence. How do these people get on TV??
