    You can only clip going in or out of a DAW, the convertors clips.You can't clip internally.

  • @mrconcept it's not clipping the channel or the mix engine, it's just clipping the meter. ;)

  • @mrconcept Harmonic dist. Thats what you want in  "analog gear". Its a plugin, but it does the same thing. I've used a FATSO Jr. before and the UAD is so close that its basically the same. Pick one up you'll be glad you did.

  • @mrconcept If done right it will add to perceived loudness, as it is basically like high (or with digital clipping, infinite) ratio compression. With analog modeling gear like this it will model how the gear handles it as well, so it is not just straight digital clipping like you might be thinking, but rather it's adding good distortion while rounding out/smashing the signal.
