A South Macon scrap metals vendor cuts Freon lines on old motel air conditioners to obtain the valuable non ferrous metals. No recycling entity accepts units with freon. Scrappers cut the lines to sign an EPA approved statement that then truthfull declares that any Freon which had not leaked out has been recovered. Freon venting violates section 608 of our 1992 Clean Air Act, and out nited States commitment with the terms of the Montreal Protocol on Substances That Deplete Stratospheric Ozone. This event happened July 9th, 2010, in Macon Ga. which is in EPA
