  • This was done at home. I'll admit, I hadn't seen your vid until now and figured out how to do this just by reading a book. It had pics and all to demonstrate the procedure. All went well. I then released it afterwards. I can't believe how easily the blood sample filled the little syringe. I am a fast learner at some things. Perhaps you have some valuable info on nutrition in fish & # times/day to feed?

  • @inlandkoi I did venipuncture on a catfish. I drew a blood sample on the caudal tail vein like you did there, except I used a 1 cc syringe which is easier for my small hands. The fish was placed in an ice chest filled with pond water and ice cubes to keep the water cool and I did it while it was awake. I wet down a glove, held it on its back and it held still & I obtained almost 1/2 cc. (I did not want to draw to much blood out.) I applied light pressure to clot the site afterwards.

  • wow nice koi

  • No, the koi was sedated in the anesthetic solution and recovered after venipuncture.

  • Uhh Hi Joe itz ur cousin ^o^ buddy me =P
