this is an awesome thing i would absolutely like to try some time. how are kills judged? i don't see anyone "taking their hits" so what constitutes good?

This is sport tournament. Usually we have 5 judges who count the scores based on the hits. Head and body count as 2 scores, arms, shoulders, legs - 1 score point. You might get 10 points to win. That simple on the paper but that hard to do when you fight :)

Where are you located? I would recommend you a place where you could try it out.

ah... not that far from US. We are in Toronto, Canada. To get an idea how it is from inside you may contact any local SCA groups. The difference between their fights and ours is that we use live steel, full force combat. We also do not stop after first hit as they do and there is only one rule in mass battles: if you got down, you stay down.

considering talking to some of the folks in the midwest (nebraska, iowa, etc..) who have posted videos. i fought SCA from '95-'99, and now fight in dagorhir battlegames.
