@TheUberHunter thanks for answer :) Looking forward to it :)

Derek Yu made Spelunky, which is a most wonderful rogue-like-like platform game.

Oh this is going to be sooo good...

Awesome.
The hero should really have 4 directional sprites. Ideally, have some animations.

Wow. This actually looks pretty great!
GH, where did you get that great rock remix? It sounds wonderful!

The sprites are awesome but I guess I will still prefer ASCII graphics. It leaves room for imagination :)

@Alfapiomega As a matter of aesthetics I don't mind tiled graphics either way: my main concern is whether or not the game can stay as streamlined and lightning-quick as it does in ASCII. Obviously we need to wait for it to be completed, but my guess is that hardcore runs will still benefit a little in its current, console form.
Though I can't say I won't play the graphics version from time to time anyway. It really DOES look awesome.

@TheUberHunter yeah I really enjoyed the graphics. They seem to have almost flawlesly taken the original graphics from Doom I and II (one of my best game of all time). However what you said is true, I tend to play this game for it's speed and action and the tıled graphics seemed to slow it down. I saw you on dev list so you might tell me if this is just a bug or a permanent thing?

@Alfapiomega There are almost certainly going to be options to speed up the game (removing movement delay, for example). There's also a minimap in the works, which will make tracking of map features a whole lot easier. What you see here is just a one of the prototypes: we still have a ways to go before the finished product.
The game does seem to get slower when there are a ton of sprites on the map: I don't know how much that can be fixed, but we'll see.
