  • I actually love this movement even more than the Albinoni Adagio....Such purity of heart and soul, not to mention tone and technique....Maurice: thank-you, and may you enjoy playing duets again with Dizzy and St Gabriel in Heaven!

  • @Wolfgang575 He was playing E using 1st+2nd, but switched to an alternate fingering (holding down #3 and trilling with $2) to play the trill between E and D#. Otherwise playing the trill would have meant holding down #2 and alternating #1 and #3 - difficult to do smoothly. Third valve, or 1st+2nd valves, play that same note (though the intonation tends to be slightly different).

  • I takes a giant to play the most sublime piece in trumpet music as it deserves to be played. Absolute perfection!

  • @Wolfgang575 Your answer is under his pointer finger. It has 4 valves but he holds the forth down with his left hand so that his right is more free to play. Look at 2:30 it will show all 4 valves.

  • Just perfect.

But what happens at about 4:00? He obviously made some change on the trumpet as he plays the same tonality but performs a halftone higher on the valves?!?!

    Who can explain???

  • this is one of the most beautiful pieces i have heard, the production of every note is immpecable, the vibrato is just wonderful!

  • Dieser Ton auf einer Hoch-B-Trompete. Traumhaft weich, rund und voll. Bravo-Bravissimo!!!

  • @mariojau I agree
