Johnny "Rooster" Byron is the only man in history to be conceived in separate postal zones. Rooster's father was caught in bed with another woman by his wife (not to be confused with Rooster's mother). She fired a single shot in her grief and rage. The bullet passed clean through Rooster's father's scrotum, bounced off the bedpost, zinged out the window, down the high street to the crossroads, where it hit the number 87 tram to Andover. The bullet passed through two inches of rusty metal, clean through an elderly cleaning lady's packed lunch and lodged in his sweet mother's sixteen year old virgin womb. Eight months, three weeks six days later, out pops him. Smiling. With a bullet clenched between his teeth.

JERUSALEM is his story.

  • Excellent, highly entertaining show. Not to be missed!

  • Saw this at the Apollo Theatre in the West End last year before it transferred to Broadway... one of the, if not THE, greatest theatrical experience of my life... so inspiring and just phenomenal... it's a show like this that makes me want to be an actor. Just immense! :)

  • I stared at John Gallagher Jr (Lee) when ever he was on stage he is my favorite actor

  • The one person that disliked this has obviously not seen the show. <3

  • @Hadeydeppio It's named after the song "Jerusalem", not the place. The song (these days is mostly sung as a hymn) uses the words of William Blake's 1804 poem "And did those feet in ancient time" which can be read as an attack against the industrial revolution. The poem wonders whether Jesus visited England (as some believe) and wonders what can be done to bring him back, now that "England's green and pleasant land" is being ripped apart by "dark satanic mills".

  • Just saw this on Bway today. Three hours and I was never bored.

  • Of course they use Invaders Must Die by The Prodigy. One of the most epic songs of today.

  • I saw this last week, days before Mark won his Tony. Absolutely incredible. Mark Rylance is by far the best actor I have ever seen grace the stage. I'm not sure how much longer this show will be running, but I know it's a limited engagement. SEE THIS SHOW! It's an absolute work of art.

  • why is it called jerusalem
