These doggies became a local icon after years of spinning over the fast food restaurants who originally created them, and when the chain rolled over and played dead, the citizens who loved these happy pups organized to save them. Harold Bachman, the designer of the Doggie Diner Dog Heads died in October 2005. John Law is one of the patrons of the Doggie Diner.

As a matter of fact in Alameda they took the dogie head down and called it Dennies Diner. Now it's completely gone.

@diminyon Yes they did. They would take the aluminum tins down with Pastrami on it and throw it on the grill. Stick it on a bun with pickles and Mustard.
