film isn't projected at 24fps, it's captured at that rate. Old movies were even projected at 48fps

@Alandar565 modern film projectors run at 24fps. Maxivision was a 48fps system similar to Showscan (65mm projected at 60fps). They were used for short ride and simulator films, I can't imagine the cost of shoot a full feature in that format.

@MaxWeatherby no trust me they aren't projected in 24fps. If they were it would look like dick with that much flicker

"most movie projectors advance from one frame to the next one 24 times each second. But each frame is illuminated two or three times before the next frame is projected using a shutter in front of its lamp. As a result, the movie projector runs at 24 frames per second, but has a 48 or 72 Hz refresh rate"
