  • @ATTACKaMAC he IS amazing, he's alive! You can find him and actually ask if it really sucks to downgrade from this amazing stuff, that they used at work full time, to PCs or, pardon to ladies, iPads.

  • @Elios0000 yes I know all that ... this man was amazing ....

  • @ATTACKaMAC see that think your holding in your hand that you use to click links with you know a MOUSE this man invented it

and you see that interface on your screen up he did that too

    its not just hyper links

he envisioned the modern OS decades be for it happened when every thing was still text based command line if it even had a video based monitor

  • @peppeddu I agree - most people don't like to think, it's too much "work" or they don't like what they "hear" - they prefer "constant amusement" devices plugged into their "environment sensors" so they don't have to hear themselves think -- iPods, cell phones, etc inhibit thinking - like TV - generally all they do is broadcast other people's ideas & creative productions rather than thinking up something new - Marshal McLuhan talked hot vs cold medium - involved creatives vs amused spectators

  • @ATTACKaMAC Oh OK, I misread your quote then.

Doug Engelbart and his team were amazing, I wish we can find someone with the same vision today.

  • @peppeddu you got it wrong -- I was replying to someone else further down who said "not much" -- I quoted him as saying "not much"

  • BTW this guy also invented the mouse ...

  • @ATTACKaMAC They've envisioned the future long before people knew what a fax machine was.

    You think it's "not much"?

Try to envision what the future will be 40 years from now with something that doesn't yet exist and you've just invented it. Then go out and make a public demo about it.

Not a clue? try 30 years.

Still not a clue? try 20 years.

    Still lost? try 10 years

    Hopefully you'll get the point.

  • Yeah Not much - just a video of the invention of the Hyperlink by the inventor -- kind of like watching a video of Thomas Edison, or Alexander Graham Bell showing their new inventions ...
