The original "Minglewood Blues," written by Noah Lewis, was recorded on January 30, 1928 in Memphis, Tennesse by Cannons Jug Stompers.
The Duke Street Dogs closed a memorable multi-year run of Friday evenings at Parker & Otis with one more show on January 7, 2011. They were joined by many friends as guest artists that night. The place was packed to the rafters as everyone enjoyed P&O's great fresh-made menu, beer and wine selections.
The Duke Street Dogs now rule Friday evenings from 6-8pm at The Blue Note Grill, 4125 Durham Chapel Hill Boulevard, Durham, NC. For beer, hickory smoked barbecue and ribs, The Blue Note Grill is among the best in town. Check out their dry rub ribs, sweet potato fries and fried okra.
Michael Borstelmann (mandolin, guitar + vocals)
Keith Guile (guitar, dobro + vocals)
Bill Newton (Hohner chromatic harmonicas + vocals)
Robert Truesdale (standup bass + vocals)

Technical note: There are many YouTube clips from this show. Due to memory card and battery limitations a good part of the evening was not recorded. The Sanyo Xacti CG10 is a neat little camera, able to make the recording you see here, even with ambient stereo sound. I do recommend getting a second and even third battery for projects that exceed 40 minutes. Having an extra 16GB memory card is a good idea too. I used a tripod and avoided a lot of zooms to save battery life.
