The honda ATAC valve is actually closed at high RPM, the valve is open at lower RPM to increase the volume of the expansion chamber and improve low end torque. I've got an 85 CR250 that I'm restoring at the moment and I have just replaced the ATAC butterfly valve.(they disintergate on older machines). Horns up to pre-1990 motocross racing!

u did a great job on the valve, when installed mine i had the valve open towards the chamber and its working great, sorry for the late reply i have been really busy helping my friend rebuild his 1978 cr250 elinore ill have a video of that soon, but what u did to the valve is exactly what i did. If u have any problems with it let me no and i might be able to help.
