in bloom on July 22 2010. It is 59 inches tall and smells like a combination of rotting cabbage, rotting fish and roadkill!

  • It smells that way to attract its pollinator, the pollinator thinks it is some kind of dead animal and tries to lay its eggs by the flower, but while it is doing that it pollinates the flower. It is called "corpse" flower because of the stench (rotting flesh).

  • I had a smaller one to bloom jan 2011, yes the flowers are absolutely disgusting, and the smell lasts for days.

  • Ewwwe why does it smell so badly is that why they refer to it as the "corpse" flower?
