Well 3 days in, the 8200a as improved, music is now seperated and floating outside the boxes. 9 o'clock on the volume dial seems its optimum level with well produced cd's, Above that and the amp flattenis the soundstage.it could still be running in. The bass also lacks real depth - frequency - but again the sound is changing so this could change. what this amp can do is low levels, you just wanna turn it up. turned down it ticks all boxes. the AX620 still sounds better ATT. .
I've just bought this amp, currently running it in. Not too happy with the sound att, the amp sounds flat, it'll go loud enough, but gives no texture or depth to music, a wall of sound as opposed to a soundscape.
It replaces a Yamaha AX620 reciever - (CDplayer NAD660 , speakers Mission782se ) - using digital co-axil the reciever sounded far superior. Hoping the amp improves with time. Its been running for 7hrs and is improving but not to my expectations.....
@steeve101uk steeve101uk, too clinical was another descriptor he used. I own this amp and the 8200CD and I completely agree with his review, it's spot on. Basically it's high on treble in laymen's terms. Brimming with detail, meaning it really catches everything in the audio but it does lack a warmth to the amp, I actually thought it would get a 3.5 star not 4. I am not disappointed with the amp though, it's a charming amp.
This guy talks such a load of bollocks, what does "a brightly lit presentation that brims with detail" mean, hifi speak for i dont know what i am talking.
