I know this as the Plane (Plian) Tree - Glorystrokes do it as one of their ceilidh tunes! Tis a nice version you do here :)

You've made my day. I'm wondering where you learned it. I got it out of a Massif Central tunebook. It had no name, so I renamed it for my wife, Bethany. Later my friend Sylvain Piron frenchified the name to Bethanie.

Hi there, it's been played around Sheffield for a while, quite probably from the same source. I learnt this version at a workshop by Geert Ooude Weernink, don't know where he got it from though. In Sheffield it seems to masquerade under the title of virtually identical tune (except it's in 6:8) called The Plane Tree by Undine Hornby.
