This ad was so misleading. He didn't throw Ontario into a recession. The recession was national and caused primarily from job losses due to the Canada-US Free Trade Agreement and the hiking of interest rates by the Bank of Canada to combat inflation. Ontario lost manufacturing jobs and mining jobs because of it and with more people collecting EI and not paying income taxes, Ontario had a problem. Rae tried to save jobs (Social Contract).

More like the truth....Rae even taxed DIRT when he was the premier of Ontario. Rae was a complete and unmitigated disaster as Premier and he was thrown out of office as the most hated politician in Ontario history. He nearly bankrupted us and now he wants to do the same to Ontario.
