What irks me most is like you said, the movie basically smashed every episode of every series (except Enterprise) into a thousand pieces. It's kind of a giant middle finger to those who have been loyal viewers for years.

@leonardnimoylover1 Old Spock is first worried about screwing up the time line even more then does not give a shit if it ever gets fixed. Young Spock can't figure out that Kirk used a virus to cheat but instantly knows how to fly a ship 100 years more advanced then he has ever seen. There are over 100 more problems with STXI; there is just no room to write them all.

@leonardnimoylover1 Scotty is both a super genius and the dumbest engineer of all times (even today). The helmsman of the flag ship can't fly. Even the plot devices can't make up their minds as to how to behave. The turbo lifts are lightning speed between 15 levels in one scene then the next they take 8 minutes to go 6 levels. Hover Bikes can't out run primitive sports cars. Finally Black Holes can't make up their minds if they are time worm holes or dead ends...

McCoy claims to be a Doctor when we meet him yet he needs to go through the Academy and he still did not learn to check medical records before administering drugs to his best friend. Pike keeps jumping from wise leader to total push over. Nero jumps between over emotional killer & the universes most patient villain...

@leonardnimoylover1 "i thought it was really good." Then I guess you were mistaken. Good films have a story with either 1 or 2 tinny plot holes or none at all. The new Trek had at least 30 plot holes; I counted them. It also had Character holes and I’m not referring to them not fitting the original versions of themselves. Vulcans claim to have their emotions under wraps in the film but every time we see a Vulcan they are insulting people, snogging people or hitting people...

Yes you are right... and the tech and the clothes are rong. As you pionted out, they have gone to so much touble exsplaning how they got to that point in time, but if you look closely at the space threads you will notice that they are wearing soccer shirts. What happend to the crush cotten tops?. There was no sign of breathable, hexagon, spots fabric in the OS. All that was missing was the Nike embalm. The sets all looked a little to high tech as well. Why no retro 1960s red work stations?

@neomp5 Spock said "Children watching their parents die" This was a redundant line deliberately dropped in. There could be only one reason for it, to indicate to the audience that Riley’s, Kirk's friend and Kirk's parents were killed. Two things you left out, No one surprised that Romulans look like Vulcans. It was not until "Balance of Terror" that anyone in the Federation even saw a Romulan. Also, the ages of the Characters are all wrong.
