  • This guy knows what he's talking about without the elitism and group think mentality that some (not all) gun enthusiasts have.

  • I met him at Porcfest in a insight gun safty class. He was a really nice guy, knew his stuff and did not act like a "hardcore gun polisher"!

  • @PatriotEke You can get legally get M855 which is steel core ammunition. You can also get steel cased 5.56 for 19 cents a round and if your AR-15 is of good quality, it won't have any problems with it.

  • To each their own. You stick with your dirty gas system with a tight bolt assembly, and I'll go with a piston system with a loose bolt assembly. Your ammo cannot be purchased legally with steel core either, but mine can be. My ammo is far cheaper than yours also. My rifle is far cheaper than yours as well.

It's a personal choice, and everyone is free to make it. Just make sure you make it well informed.

Besides, If I need an AR-15 platform rifle, there will be plenty to pick up.

  • @qstendious id prefer to go with a zero fail bolt

  • Snuggy? Bah. Slankets are much better.

  • It's also important to consider the different action types. Traditional to the AR-15 is direct gas impingement. That system is being replaced by the improved gas piston design. LWRC makes this sort of AR-15 and there are also conversions you can buy. HK's version of the AR15/M16 - the HK416 - is designed to fire 10,000 rounds without a single cleaning or service. It's a gas piston rifle. Watch this video for full explanation between the two types...

  • The AR15 is a fine weapon that won't malfunction as indicated above. watch?v=CqRwx4wtmms for a comparison with the AK74.

  • I think I just "had one" - LOL!

  • Just about three comments up is an example of the elitism and group think mentality I was referring to.

  • Merry Christmas

  • Get an AK-74. It won't jam after a single speck of dust gets into the bolt assembly.
