  • Vac, brush, backwash, the add shock and algicide. Those little 1lb. Bags of shock aren't nearly enough. Let it run 24 hours per day backwash often until it's clear.

  • I hate cleaning the pool...

  • @cwaddle100 not activated. The killing species is the Chlorite ion and it does not function or kill at a higher pH. In other words, the Sodium Hypo is pH sensitive and you will need to use an acid to drop the pool pH into the proper control range which is 7.4 to 7.6 pH units. So again, use the commercial grade 12 1/2% Sodium Hypo to kill the algae or any bacteria in the pool. Hope this helps and have a great day.

  • @FantasticFace Whether you are talking about the brand name "Chlorox" or bleach or chlorine you are talking about Sodium Hypochlorite. I would never use "Chlorox" in my pool because it is only 5 1/4% Sodium Hypochlorite. Use Chlorox if you have the laundry blues and doing a load of whites but not in the pool. Go to your local pool supply store and purchase the Sodium Hypochlorite which will be either 10% or better yet 12 1/2%. Make sure your pool pH is approx 7.6 pH units or the Chlorine is

  • @RatDog67 my pool has no backwash setting

  • ye i baught that shock and its still .. and make sure you do it close to the water

  • that pools is GREEEN!!!! if i let my pool turn green i would be fired!

  • shocking is a good start but... This pool is in need of a flock clairifier followed by a weekly or a twice monthly clarifying gel tab or powder. She is right about scrubbing. Scrub walls and bottom even if you did a great job vacuuming. Scrub the ladder and all hard to reach places. I would also use an alge treatment at this point. Also a skimmer basket sock is also a great idea here. I use one ALWAYS. Once pool is clear follow up with weekly vacuuming and backwashes. 3-6 lbs of baking soda

  • @FantasticFace Yes. Regular old Clorox. You can also use the liquid shock sold in pool stores...same thing, just higher concentration so you'll use less. To properly shock your pool to completely get rid of the algae, you just don't dump it in your pool willy nilly. You need a good chemical testing kit (Taylor is one) to do the job right. By checking the level of free chlorine in the pool as you shock, you will know when you're done. Go to troublefreepooldotcom for more detailed info.
