Pragmatism is an ideal.

Capitalism is a utopia wherein everyone has economic license and society is motivated by profit from PEOPLE. Mercantilism is where certain myopic profit motives have too much license (making them myopic) and subjugate free and fair flow of capital. That is slavery, not capitalism. It's what socialists do, they regress our advance to capitalism. As a centre left libertarian Briton I am ashamed of this disgusting British man who insults Friedman, who understands how govt reduces wealth.

It is interesting the lady mentioned Chile. Detractors from the free market usually cite Chile as an example of the failures of capitalism and its tendency to opress. This couldn't be further from the truth. economic reforms in chile resulted in a massive improvement of the quality of life of chileans, and was a major aid in the country's transition to democracy. by freeing the market, the monster pinochet planted the seeds of his own destruction.

Yes, because free markets fulfill at least one condition of a free society, while left-wing dictatorships fulfill no conditions of a free society.

By researching the works of great men like Friedman, Sowell, and Hayek, is that a government's striving for equality of economic condition is based on coercion and generally catastrophic. Social institutions in general should strive not for this, but for equality of opportunity, to let people decide how they live their own lives, and that free markets are the most suitable for this goal.

"Equality of results" - can there be any more irrational premise?

RE: the first statement by the woman.

Imagine if a taliban man said, "What your'e talking about is not freedom for our women. You're talking about sexual license, license for them to appear in public in lewd clothing, license to have sex. These cause lots of damage to our society."

I wonder if the woman would agree.

LOL you're right.

The "economic license" that she is describing is like saying that you need special permision from some other individual in order to posess capital of your own in the first place. Of course she wants to be among the group of people who reserve the right to issue said "licensenses"

How convenient.

I find every argument she made in the video to be repulsive to the extreeme

This is Piven of the "Cloward and Piven" strategy - of how to destroy the system by getting every one on welfare so that the country is bankrupted. Nothing less that Communism would do for her

Roger that

In her own writing she confesses that she wants the country to crumble economically, thus achieving distribution (looting) of wealth by the masses.

This is exactly what was done in Russia, and the result was tyranny unlike the world has ever seen.

It just makes my skin crawl that people like that exist, and the results they achieve. She was a great pal of Bill Clinton too
