Besides that apparently paper is made from trees. Well it is, but it is very strange technology. Wood is very awkward to make paper from. It is the outlaw of Cannabis that caused the cutting down of every real forest in America. Hemp delivers fare more cellulose per acre than wood ever will.

1) I don't have to know any such thing. Logic.doesn't place the burden of proof on the criticizer. Me, the criticizer, only need to bore a hole in the logic and if I can, I have shown it to be fallacious. My job is then done.
3) "->" means if and only if.
@movcrit, are you trying to contradict my reason or confirm it? To me it looks like the latter.
-
@Idol2011no 1. Is an assertion that can be verified quantitatively or denied. That's the thing about efficiency and maximization, they are quantitative properties and therefore require quantitative proofs.

1. Yes, but how do you know if a cab, that gets most of it's business from Airport would actually find someone before reaching a certain distance?
3. I fail to see what you are talking about. I am only using the Socratic inquiry to determine if his statements are imprecise or wrong. I pointed an exception to his examples. A more accurate formal logic depiction of my statement is If A therefore B. Or B -> A. Arrows aren't "therefore"... they are "if and only if."
-
@movcrit, you're wrong. In fact, wrong in such a way that it suggest you're a dumb fuck.
1) Cab takes passangers from anywhere, not only from airport.
3) Classic fallacy of this form: A -> C, B -> C => A == B.
(the object in a statement is not interchangeable when the predicate is attacked. Analogy that needs to do so is invalid)

One of my favorites of yours stefan. Beautiful.

she is an anarcho-communist, not an authoritarian communist

This is, of course, the case of "bad examples but still decent argument" syndrome.
Also, are you a libertarian (very small government) or a anarchist (no formal government)?
-
Your cab license personal example shouldn't have been used. It can easily be construed to attack your position.
1. If the Cab was used the Cab would be forced to drive back and forth. If you had rented a Car you would only have drove there. (Within a vacuum cost half of the gas)
3. If the government raised taxes on car rentals. You would also be more inclined to use the cab.
Your internet-based technologies also fail because the internet was developed by DARPA and given away free.

Margaret Thatcher was against the feminism movement. I owe nothing to women's lib. Would a civil rights activist support a famous black person who was for segregation?
You make examples where the environment benefits businesses benefit, but that's entirely accurate of today world. In most cases businesses benefit from the destruction of the environment. I could cut costs if I just dump the nuclear waste somewhere rather then seeking to seal it. Here only the state can stop me.

I recently started to dislike 'Green and environmentalist views' without really knowing why.It just felt wrong to support ideas such as the Carbon Tax here in Australia. Now I sort of know why.Lol Queen of Malta. I grew up in Malta and sometimes the degrees of influence by the church on the government sickens me. This is almost the same thing as the environment. I love the environment and I really don't hate religion. But I guess the link is the aggression involved in bringing about these ideas.
@stefbot: On the feminism issue, just thought of someone else. Two words: Emma Goldman. Anarcha-feminist, anarcho-communist, more radical than any feminist then, commented on the suffrage movement saying: "We vote? What does that mean?" As an anarchist, she of course did not go for big government, or any at all. There's no denying her feminism, advocating the right to choose abortion and birth control while they were anathema, not to mention illegal. Is she not a heroine to feminists? (Yes).
