Thank You!

"Slommanie Kukolki" is a 2004 documentary on artistic gymnastics and its risks and dangers.
Main subject are two girls with the same surname, Zasypkina. Though they are not related, their fates in gymnastics due to serious injury are common.

The documentary is in Russian of course and has lots of interviews with Svetlana Khorkina, Anna Pavlova, Mariya Zasypkina and Yekaterina Lobaznyuk.
The general tone is quite critical towards leadership and lack of health insurance, education etc.

Lots of training footage from Dinamo, Round Lake and some other venues in Tula and Orekhovo-Zuyevo.

  • wierd how pavlove seemed to be training in what looked like corridoors, particularly on that tumbling strip!

  • Thanks again for sharing!! This looks awesome I wish especially to know what Anna Pavlova is saying-she's been my favorite since she first came on the same. A powerful and ARTISTIC gymnastic in every sense of the word. Those walls next to the tumbling mats worry me-they seem so close. Yikes!

  • i wish it was in english :P

  • what I can't believe is that she is very thin but she still have/had boobs!! most of the gymnasts have like a kid body... (without boobs, without waist)

  • Notice the 'hip protection' underneat Tourischeva's leotards. Those were the days of hip pounding beats on the low bar. I have read gymnasts had huge bruises across the tops of their hips and thighs for months!

  • Svetlana Zasypkina-she is identified as such by the narrator in Part I. :) I don't know if she is any relation to Maria Zasypkina-I am really only familiar with Lobaszhnkiuk.

  • My guess at Khorkina's remarks on the Sydney Olympics-and that vault: They stole my gold medal in the AA!! It belonged to me!! But that %$#@! vault was set to low!!!

  • Wonderful documentary. Any translations please? Or a summary in English? What did they all say?

Did Sveta say 'Amsterdam' when she was on the phone?

Who's the third gymnast in the reunion (Lobazniouk and Zazypkina and ...)?
