Hi this is Dr. Jeffrey Parham. Welcome to this week's Health and Lifestyle Tip. Today's topic is about stress and what I'd like to do is show you a tip to reduce stress right away. Now, most of us take breath for granted which is kind of interesting given that we ought to take about 17,000 breaths a day, which that oxygen is used to nourish your body, including the over 100 billion cells in the brain alone. Often times, when we get stressed out we'll start to breath in and out our nose. You probably all seen that cartoon with the bull breathing like that, and what that does, it actually brings up our life force energy or our Chi.

Now, if we're already stressed that breath pattern can increase our stress even more. So the breath pattern, that if we can check in to see how we're breathing when especially when we're feeling stressed or trying to get a lot done the breath pattern that will help reduce stress is in the nose and not the mouth. It's a very calming and relaxing breath. So we'll breathe in the nose and out the mouth, and right away you'll probably notice that you're starting to feel calmer and I hope that that's been helpful for you and the next time you get stressed if you can just take a moment, start to breath in your nose not your mouth, I'll think you'll notice a big difference.
