According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is planning to arm its heavily anticipated iTablet with a variety of content, including electronic-textbooks, newspapers, magazines, television, and electronic gaming, in an effort to revolutionize the media industry much like it did with the music industry.
People familiar with the matter told the Journal that the company envisions family members able to share the tablet to read news and check email at home.
The company has supposedly engaged in talks over content for the tablet with the New York Times (NYSE:NYT), Condé Nast Publications and HarperCollins Publishers and its owner News Corp. (NASDAQ:NWS).
Additionally, Apple is in talks for a monthly TV subscription service with television networks such as CBS (NYSE:CBS) and Walt Disney (NYSE:DIS), the owner of ABC.
However, it doesn't end there; Apple is also working with video game publisher Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:ERTS) to showcase the tablet's game capabilities, according to another source.
