Great video! always fun getting on the reds!
-
wtf? your using such heavy tackle for redfish.
-
@laxlag16 The huge Reds are in the St Johns along the river channel between the Dames Pt Bridge and the Jetties. The smaller reds are in the creeks off the ICW near the Beach Blvd bridge.

where in Jacksonville is this?

Heavy tackle helps the fish survive the fight. Light tackle exhausts the fish. I learned this from multiple guides in the Jax area. There are also a lot of bull sharks that love eating these over sized reds.

live or cut bait

@MrWeasleboy Mostly we use live bait. I like live fish for the larger Reds, either Pogies, Mullet, Threads, or mud minnows. Half crabs also work well for the huge Reds. In the creeks shrimp work well and sometimes gulps or fish imitating lures in mullet patterns.

@Mudderinthesouth We were using quartered blue crabs on the edge of the ship channel near Blount Island. I have caught some nice Reds in Sister's Creek. I like the out going tide best.
