What is dual polarization technology? Why should you care? On this episode of That Weather Show, we answer those questions by using parodies of our favorite commercials.

Thanks for the feedback. We currently are posting through our organization: NOAA National Severe Storms Laboratory. I've added the direct FB and Twitter links in the video info above. Let me know if you have trouble accessing them.

I don't particularly like the "Weather For Dummies" style format. Most dummies don't have the attention span for this information, nor the interest or desire to learn in the first place. It reminds me of watching a film strip in First grade. Other than that, I'm excited about the implementation of the advanced technology, and you guys definitely do amazing work. Much thanks and appreciation!

What an obnoxious video this was. Whoever was responsible for releasing it should be fired. I was expecting a more adult like approach to explain the dual polarization technology, not to insult people by lowering it to children standard. Thumbs down.

So we had to watch this for our monthly continuation training. It was pretty fun, and I'm not surprised NOAA came up with a more fun video than AFWA would have. Although, I think they could have included more technical information. Most of the people watching this hopefully understand how RADAR works in the first place.

last week, they update our radar with this. Now green 30DBZ only means cloudy. before it was steady rain. the clutter is much much worse. I give it failing marks. NSR-88d is now worthless for me to see the weather!!!! shame shame shame

Unfortunately, the National Weather Service's Western Region's pipeline is too narrow to download youtube videos in under about half an hour, if they download at all. can't watch this.

Fantastic video! That was fun! Seriously though, good stuff. Would this be available for onboard aircraft weather radar? I'm assuming that certain weather providers use their own software to interpret the radar returns, no? Sites like Wunderground, for example. Would they need to upgrade their software if that's the case?

    Again, thanks for the vid!
