A little while ago I wrote a blog called Raise the Bar ( http://bespokephoto.blogspot.com/2009/10/raise-bar.html ) about my work for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. The photos were a big hit with the art director, as well as the people at LLS. So much so that they decided to do the whole shoot over again, but this time on video.

I was brought in to help do the lighting so that it looks similar to the still shoot, and to take some production stills behind the scenes. I rented a blimp for my Canon 1Ds Mk II and a PocketWizard MultiMax for my Canon G10.

The idea for putting the G10 on a MultiMax came from seeing this clip of the Eastman Theater being refurbished. On location, I put up a Bogen AutoPole 2, clamped a Magic Arm to it with a small camera platform for the G10, like this:


I put the MultiMax in Intervalometer mode, setting it up to take one picture every minute, with a maximum of 800 frames, which would be good enough for over 13 hours. The final 25 second video (assembled in Quicktime Pro), is made from 777 frames and covers the shoot from set-up to break-down. At 30 frames per second, it condenses the whole day into 26 seconds. I had to change batteries twice, which accounts for a little jog in the video occasionally.
