Yes anticipation is key in kumite. Fighting is as much mental as it is physical. If your execution is on point you can counter almost any thing. If they're not looking for it the technique is effective. I saw Benny 'the jet' Urquidez tag so many people with that spinning back that they never knew was coming. Wally Slocki and his flying scissors kick too. A lot of it is technique and timing.

Fantastic technique when executed properly. I saw guys in tournaments use this and it always worked.(dropping the opponent). Once mastered the opponent can't see this technique because it is primarily a counter to their attack,very effective always guaranteed to get buzz of "oohhs" from the crowd. lol.
