Right band, wrong time. If they had held this album back until after Oasis blew indie into the mainstream then they'd have been massive a la The Verve. The problem with Ride is that they were too late for Madchester and too early for britpop. Unfortunately they were at their best when people didn't give a toss about the kind of music they were making.

i remember being there and really looking forward to seeing them play their indie classics and then thinking what's this byrds-lite shit ?
a very unlucky band, wrong place wrong time several times over.
screw oasis playing that year, orbital closed sunday night on the nme stage and interesting music shifted on its axis.

am glad ride came out why they did cause they never got caught up in all that brit pop crap that came out , band like THE DYLANS ,RIDE , FLOWERD UP WERE MUCH BETTER MUSICALY THAN MOST LATER INDIE BRIT POP BANDS .... NOW THAT WHAT I THINK I SAW THEM ALL AND THE ROSES ALSO BUT THE ROSES ARE THE ROSES GREAT STUDIO LP'S .....BLA BLA BLA IM OUT OF HERE LOL
