I also experienced that the intense meditation during a zen-sesshin benefitted the curing of a middle-ear infection which I got on the second day. It was cured on the fourth or fifth day, if I recall it correctly.
I also experienced during a self-experiment that your emotions DO have a biochemical impact on your body. So no matter if you're an idealist or a materialist, it's important to know that whatever we think and then feel will have consequences on ourselves. Right mental conduct.

@pragzter I have done more research about meditation and illness and you are quite right, it really can help cure cancer, or at least help you cope with it and go towards curing it. Thankyou for your comment. :)

@brucinda01 It can help though. Studies have shown that meditation has helped reduce stress levels (abnormal hormonal activity included), strengthen your immune system and provide psychological reinforcement. It helps you deal with the situation with a clearer view of how things are, allowing you to be at peace with whatever that is ailing you, even if it is a cancer.
I don't know if meditation alone can cure cancer but I think it definitely helps you deal with it and maybe act as a preemptive.

@cricket279 animals are not the same as us, one primary difference is they don't know they are going to die which is one of the worst curses we have as humans. On top of that we aren't meant to be vegans. It's an unhealthy diet that can lead to health problems without supplements.

GREAT teaching, agree with almost all of it, but i don't believe for a second that meditation can cure cancer.

Thanks very much for posting. It is a wise teaching.

I love Ajahm Brahm. I need to take this opportunity to speak on behalf of non-humans. All sentient beings deserve to not be exploited. Please consider going vegan. We kill 56 billion animals (not including fish) every year for no other reason than their bodies 'taste good'. Non-human animals value their life as much as you or I and fight to hold onto it, please don't needlessly take it from them.

In other videos Ajahn Brahm talks about reincarnation, so he does promote compassion toward animals. He never talks about exclusively people matters, he talks about emotional strifes which are intrinsic to all beings.
I think the most important thing I can say to you Baratgab is that these talks don't have to influence you. Buddhists speak only in suggestion. Only follow the path if it agrees with your own sense of conscience. There is no one answer, so I am happy for your different perception.
