I had the honor of spending several days with John in 1989 standing at the spot he earned his medal. The most moving part of the day was when he asked us to take him to the memorial for the crash site of the plane he is credited with shooting down. I watched his tears as he told me that he has sent money on a regular basis to the family of the man since the end of WWII. This man is not just a hero, he is a humanitarian.

  • @darkslayer1549 Because you're human and it swells your heart with pride to see these things.

  • man I dont even know why I cried watching this, but I did.

  • @DrachirLoyah We still serve, sir, and wish you the best, and defend the rights of you, and yours to live in peace and happiness.

  • I'm not an American but here in Britain the sacrifice of the generation during WW2 is still very much honoured here. I remember meeting many veterans during my time at school when they came in and talked about their experiences. It's touching to see veterans being treated with the respect they so richly deserve.

  • A true American will never give up

  • thats my great great uncle

  • @mycokerulesyayD. honestly all those generals would gladly trade all the stars on their shoulders for that one light blue ribbon with stars. (so long as they earned it) harry truman told one solider as he placed it around his neck "id much rather have this metal then be the president son"

    God Bless John William Finn

  • rest in peace hero.
