well they included it in AL8. I'm sure he just didn't know about it... lol

It's kind of a silly thing for ableton to bother with. There's certainly no lack of software vocoders and hardware ones aren't expensive.
I'd wager it's a non-issue for fans of the effect.

though now, almost a year later Live 8 has a native vocoder. So he wasn't telling the truth :P
