  • It’s great that so many universities are jumping onto the garden design band-wagon because it not only spreads the word, but helps create interest in the subject.

The problem arises when what is being taught, amounts to little more than ‘meaningless scribbles’.

This Video to me, represents everything bad about garden design teaching.

This is not supposed to be a personal attack on Dr. Ann Marie VanDerZanden, but I totally disagree with her approach to garden

  • too primitive kind of design

    rendering either

  • it is not easy to talk about design principals, and to do so in 2 minutes using an example of a really weak garden plan is disrespectful to the 'profession' of garden designers. i do not disagree with the principals themselves, in a different context they would have carried plenty of value. (as a note , proportions are represented in plan view)

  • Great principles of Garden Design, and first of all, The US is so generous with knowledge, sharing, resouces, just a great example to the world. The principles a lot of western garden designers use is often symmetrical balance, where in the east, the landscaping design can introduce asymmetrical visual layout principles.

  • Thank you for helping me with my National Award in Horticulture Unit 7: Horticultural Design Principles Learning Outcome 1: Understand how design principles can be applied to Garden Design Assessment

    Thank You
