Poodles are actually the second smartest dog (behind border collies). That said, they do seem to do some dumb things. When I was a little kid, we had a toy poodle. On occasion, he would run, at full speed, head first into the storm door.

My little poodle passed away in May 2011. He was 17 years old. Such a sweet little guy. Not the smartest poodle I've ever had, but surely the most entertaining, affectionate and tolerant one I've ever had.
