Most R. David knives are a decent midrange. They have some very refined ones as well, if you can find them. Personally I prefer Fontenille-Pataud.

Intresting. Anybody can make a knife, put on it something like a fly and call this knife by Laguiole? I can make a bowie knife and call it Laguiole. I have two Laguiole knives manufactured by Baladeo. Good knives. One is with cork skrew other ir caled multifunctional knife with botle opener + screw drivers, can openers, and ofcourse blade. Indeed. The word "Laguiole" is not protected, hence companies from all over the world manufacture -usually cheap- knives in the laguiole style. Purists will however prefer a made-in-France one from a reputed manufacturer like Fontenille-Pataud.
