The Laguiole knife name is not protected, hence next to the original artisanal French ones, you can find cheap interpretations made in far away. Many of these cheap designs are not really good, but is it possible to find interesting ones that originate outside France? Watch the clip to find out...

Most R. David knives are a decent midrange. They have some very refined ones as well, if you can find them. Personally I prefer Fontenille-Pataud.

(by the way, since you ask on my channel, yes my mother tongue is flemish).

Intresting. Anybody can make a knife, put on it something like a fly and call this knife by Laguiole? I can make a bowie knife and call it Laguiole. I have two Laguiole knives manufactured by Baladeo. Good knives. One is with cork skrew other ir caled multifunctional knife with botle opener + screw drivers, can openers, and ofcourse blade. Good knives, but they have a couple -

Indeed. The word "Laguiole" is not protected, hence companies from all over the world manufacture -usually cheap- knives in the laguiole style. Purists will however prefer a made-in-France one from a reputed manufacturer like Fontenille-Pataud.

Is that a bee or a cicada? As the cicada is the icon of Provence.

It is a bee, or perhaps a fly.

Ya saw them talking about on their home page after I posted. The weird part is it looks just like the cicada from Provence.
