In light of recent pronouncement coming from Rome on spiritual healing in Africa, the church might well follow John XXIII, who lifted that evil and historical cloud from hovering over Jews for the death of Christ, and issue an equivalent encyclical on the equally evil practice of racism as a false doctrine that has equally harmed as many Africans as anti-Semitism has harmed Jews. In so doing, the Roman Catholic Church would send both anti-Semitism and racism to hell where they belong.
@AlegreFe The video doesn't say that. It was talking about the Yoruba religion which comes from Africa. It was brought to the new world thru slaves & a way it was practiced in secrecy was by making certain saints or Jesus stand for specific God that they worshipped.
I'm a Black American Roman Catholic. Blacks have been more active in the Roman Catholic Church before Rome even accepted it has the official religion.
I really like this video! I'm Mexican American and I know a few Black Catholics.
I would like to point out a little mistake in this video. 42 seconds in, it says "Africans drew parallels between the Saints Catholics worshipped..." That is totally wrong. Catholics do NOT worship Saints. lol We only venerate them and ask them to pray for us because they are already up there with God.
I am So Happy and Thankful to the Lord for the Church is growing oh so fast in Africa. Our brothers and Sisters over there deserve their Religious freedom, and expression. God bless them all.
cool vid. thanks. but dont forget, some of the very leaders, fathers, and disciples in the early Church were African, including a handful of popes. remember how the Holy Family escaped Herod's census by traveling to Africa? and btw, Catholics dont worship saints, we simply honor saints and good role models. our worship goes, or should go, completely to God.

This is an odd point. It makes Catholicism on par with the worship of false pagan gods. Not cool. WWJS?

Great video, but we do not worship Saints that is only for God. We pray to Saints that they may pray for us and with us to God the Father.
