Thousands of protesters from every walk of life demonstrated in London today, 5th June 2010, to demand the ending of Israel's blockade on Gaza, and to protest Israel's heavy handed response to the Freedom Flotilla attempting to break the siege this week. Nine activists were shot dead at point blank range when their boat was boarded in international waters, 90 miles off the coast of Palestine, and many more were injured.

The vessel was carrying over 10,000 tonnes of aid to Gaza, to help them to rebuild after their houses, schools and hospitals were obliterated by Israel's bombs.

Israel SAY that they already allow tonnes of aid into Gaza, however, the restrictions they place upon what can go into the country is oppressive. They ban, for example, coriander... and then tell the international community that the reasons for the restrictions is to prevent ammunition getting into Gaza.. HOW is coriander a terrorist threat? It's just one of many many things not getting into Gaza.
What this is, is the oppression of a people- to make their lives hell so that they leave their home, or die.

The Freedom Flotilla was carrying primarily building materials including cement, as the Palestinians have been completely unable to rebuild their houses that were smashed down. Unable to fix the sewage system which is a threat to their health. Unable to repair the water system- most palestinians no longer have running water, nevermind clean water- only 5% is classed as safe to drink.
Cement and building materials are also on the banned list things Israel will not allow them to have.

The situation in Palestine is UNACCEPTABLE. It is barbaric.
It is a SHAME on humanity.
The international community NEED to pay attention and demand action from their government- demand sanctions, and to impose a boycott on ALL Israeli products until they lift the siege on Gaza.

Demonstrators congregated at Downing Street to urge the UK government to remove the Israeli embassador from the UK and to demand for them to do more than give soundbites.
After some speakers including London rapper Lowkey, the protesters marched through Central London- Picadilly, Trafalgar Sq, Hyde Park Corner and on into Kensington- to arrive outside the Israeli embassy, where more speakers were, including some who organised the voyage of the Mavi Marimara, the boat upon which 9 activists were killed on Monday.

  • Israel will do whatever they want because most of the moneyed man and powerful man in USA are Israeli-American. What can you do? Nothing to do, just to watch the show down of Israeli killing in TV and think you have just a watch a live movie and It's not real.

  • @MosterFrance Or turn the tv off because its all owned by propagandists, and turn to your neighbours and have a real frank and open conversation about what you'd like to see changing in the world and then make a start on it. There's more of us poor landless peasants than there are moneyed men... and they need us to grow rich.... starting point is uniting.

  • Who's that dude? Fucking AWESOME!!

  • @JOHNNYH8STHENWO Thats Lowkey... he's got a few songs out... yup, awesome :-)

  • AWESOME! I so wish I lived in your town when there are protests. puts the one in Oslo to shame. The turnout is fantastic. VERY AWESOME!

LONG LIVE PALESTINE; LONG LIVE GAZA!

:-) It was refreshing to see such a large crowd. Theres a reason I put "ad astra per aspera" on most of my videos- only through difficulties can people become awake and compassionate. Gawd knows Gaza has had its fill of difficulties- the emotional impact is being understood by millions more now.

  • Every walk of life? I notice the silent majority were conspicuous by their absence!

Also, Western governments will never desert Israel. Why should they? Although there are many deeply religious people there, most lead a secular, westernised life style and it is in the interests of The US , UK and other countries to keep it like that.

  • THANX 4 UPLOADING COULDN'T ATTEND THE PROTEST. WISH I WAS THERE! NICE TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED!

  • Well at least it rpoves that people can peacefully protest without the Government feeling it necessary to spend millions of tax-payers money cracking tax-payers heads with billyclubs and firing chemicals into their eyes. Where were the anarchists? Oh yeah, they're off-duty cops and paid-thugs - by the Government - with tax-payers money - to allow draconian policiing methods to end protests.

In short: The lack of police makes a statement about the reality of peacceful protest. It's a win.

  • @TheSpartacat Thanks!! I'm checking that out right now!!

  • @infomorgue There can be no future without love... thats what we're boiling down to. Too few see that. They don't want to give up their pain and the past. All we have is now and that is all that is important. It's become an impossible fear driven situation over there... and where theres fear, love is squeezed out
