EXCLUSIVE! This Monday 22.11.10, at lunchtime, we filmed the pianists Leif Ove Andsnes and Marc-André Hamelin rehearsing on the spot Stravinsky's "Rite of Sping" on the stage of BOZAR, the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels. They will be playing this absolute masterpiece of the 20th century, in the same place, on Wednesday 24th November 2010, concluding in fireworks the 3 days of the Norwegian Risor chamber Music Festival in Brussels... before Wigmore Hall, London, and Carnegie Hall, New York... Be there on 22, 23 and 24 November! WWW.BOZAR.BE
@NOSEhow2LIV Thanks - nice to have my vague memory confirmed.

@lsbrother Yes you are right. Askenazy&Barenboim performed it in the duet,(4H 1piano)original version which altho difficult to handle, sounds denser and more concentratedly savage than the more spacious 2-pianos. Barenboim joked afterwards that the Festival Hall would need to buy a new piano!

Andsnes mentions that 'it is almost impossible to play on one piano' and I have a vague memory of a tv program at least 20 years ago with Barenboim and Ashkenazy doing just that and Ashkenazy commenting how difficult it was!
Can anyone confirm that or did I just dream it?

Nice interview, btw :) I hope the whole performance will be recorded; after this, I'd really like to watch/listen their version!
