The first genetically engineered animal for human consumption is in the process of being approved. Genetically modified super salmon, brought to you by AquaBounty Technologies, is pumped with DNA from an eel-like creature and could be hitting grocery stores near you. If it's approved, it could open the door to a large range of genetically modified animals being raised for consumption.

@ChiefDen4 Genetic engineering is not the same as selective breeding and GMO won't do much to prevent starvation. UN report International Assessment of Agricultural Science Technology Development, by 400 scientists, concluded biotech crops have very little potential to alleviate hunger and poverty and can undermine local practices that enhance food production and economic stability. UN reports also say organic can alleviate hunger and poverty.

Mexican organic farmers are complaining that U.S. genetically modified corn is cross pollinating their crop and rendering them non-organic. Over fishing, oil pollution, land runoff, PCB, trichloroethylene, per chlorate, MBTE, fracking chemicals, sulfur dioxide, nitrates from pig farms=pollution!

Jesus, people are fucking stupid. This isn't a comic book - radioactivity doesn't make you glow green, and genetically modified organisms are like any other organism. If you have a problem with genetically engineered foods, then I guess you're going to starve because throughout history we've been selecting the best plants to combine and make better ones. There's nothing wrong with eating GM salmon, because it's just salmon.

I'm glad we were able to stop this at least temporarily . It was amazing that the Cosummer's Union came to the rescue at the hearing with studies showing a potentially fatal allergy possiblity for this Frankenfish . Polls showed around 90% of people are against genetically modified food being sold unless they are clearly marked as GMO .
