I have to agree. Matt Monro, Sinatra and Vic Damone, all brilliant singers in their own ways and yet with distinctive styles. Equally as good, equally as different.
This brings back some memories. Back in about 1980 at boarding school, we had a little Ferguson record player and a stack of 1950s/60s singles, and this was one of them. The fun we had as 8 or 9 year-olds playing these records, and ever since I've loved this era of music. thanks for posting
I must disagree with a few of these comments. A a fan of Sinatra's as well as Matt's I cant realy see their voices sounding alike. Matt Monro had the most cultured voice you could ever listen to, with perfect diction. He was unique and did'nt need to copy ,or sound like anyone. He was the owner of a voice you could never forget. As was Sinatra. The nearest voice for sheer quality to Matt's was Vic Damone, another great singer of years gone by. Where are their equals today?
These comments are all pretty much on the money. The early Sinatra was truly incomparable (I'm talking mid 1940s--many of his fans don't know this Frank). But Matt Monro had a gorgeous, flawless voice and ranks at the very top. I just love listening to his voice; good for the soul. In fact growing up in the 1960s and hearing his songs on radio I did not even know he was British. It's sad he left us so early. Thanks for posting this for us!
First come first serve. I think Monro is perfect but Sinatra came enough years before him to claim the throne, so to speak. You have to knock the 'king of hill' off of his perch if you want to be the best, it just didn't happen with Matt even though I'll admit he could have been the best. Timing is everything.
aww just gotta say i was given a cd of my uncle eddie of matt i love it thank you for posting this one

Matt Monroe was his own man with his own talent, but in his day he was often referred to as "The British Sinatra".
