Can be done with raw cream and buttermilk? Whippng cream same as heavy cream? Can freeze? If I only use a little sour cream each work, is it worth doing all of this? THANKS!

@LietMonty if you don't use that much... no way is it worth it.. its better than store purchased but it takes too long and cost too much for just a little bit.. plus it expires in about a week

@thizizliz the comedy is the setting thats on my itouch and I always forget to change it

Instead of coffee filters you can use napkins..paper towel...cheese cloth....anything you have on hand. This also works with home made butter milk and is a big money saver.

I've done this without heating up the heavy cream and it came out perfect a little thicker too

So we use heavy cream (okay, we have that in Italy), but Buttermilk doesn't exist. How do we make buttermilk from Scratch? :-)

I'm gonna have to try this because it looks fun - but I don't know that it would be cheaper unless I made a whole bunch of them... I get an 8 oz container of sour cream for about 79 cents.
